As the weather warms up, it’s time to get your pool ready for summer fun. Follow these steps to ensure your pool is clean, safe, and ready for swimming.

1. Clean and Inspect
Remove any debris, leaves, or dirt from the pool and surrounding area. Check for any visible damage to the pool liner, tiles, or equipment. Clean out the skimmer and pump baskets to ensure proper filtration.

2. Balance the Water Chemistry
Test your pool water for pH, chlorine, and alkalinity levels. The ideal pH should be between 7.2 and 7.6. Shock the pool if necessary to kill bacteria and algae, and use an algaecide if needed.

3. Inspect and Maintain Equipment
Check the pool pump, filter, and heater to ensure they are functioning correctly. Clean or replace the filter if needed and inspect hoses and connections for leaks.

4. Safety Check
Make sure all pool safety equipment, such as ladders, railings, and pool covers, are secure. If you have young children, ensure fences and gates are properly locked and in good condition.

5. Schedule a Pool Inspection
If you install a new pool, contact Fort Bend County MUD 116 operator, Si Environmental, to set up a pool inspection. Call 832-490-1600 to schedule your inspection and ensure compliance with local regulations.

Following these steps, you can enjoy a clean and safe pool all summer!
